NAPERVILLE, Ill., Oct. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- OfficeMax® Incorporated (NYSE: OMX), a leading provider of office supplies, technology and business services, today announced it is opening its doors at 8:00 p.m. local time Thanksgiving night1 with hot doorbuster deals, and offering significant Black Friday savings at OfficeMax.com starting at 12:01 a.m. EST Thanksgiving morning to deliver holiday savings to customers earlier than ever.
The OfficeMax Black Friday shopping event will take place for three days from Thursday, Nov. 28 – Saturday Nov. 30 in stores and at OfficeMax.com, featuring big savings on must-have holiday gifts, including the latest in mobile technology and accessories.
In response to interest from customers who prefer to start their shopping early, most OfficeMax stores will open at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving evening, consistent with many retailers. Thirty-five million people shopped Thanksgiving openings last year, and many shoppers say they prefer spending time with their friends and family in stores, as opposed to setting the alarm on Black Friday morning, according to a 2012 consumer spending survey sponsored by the National Retail Federation2.
"Black Friday shopping has become a celebrated and cherished tradition nationwide, and we know that many customers want to get a head start on the savings as part of their holiday festivities," said Michael Lewis, executive vice president and president of retail at OfficeMax. "We're opening our doors at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving to help make OfficeMax among the first stops in the holiday shopping tradition."
"We're bringing Black Friday deals earlier to our stores and online to help shoppers save even more on must-have holiday gifts, while providing them with a convenient, fun and stress-free shopping experience," added Jim Barr, executive vice president and chief digital officer at OfficeMax. "We're excited to unveil OfficeMax's big Black Friday deals that shoppers can purchase either in-store or at OfficeMax.com, and we look forward to continuing to deliver great savings all season long."
Three Ways to Save with Door Buster Events
This year OfficeMax is kicking off its in-store specials with three door buster events starting local time at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and 5 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, while supplies last.
Black Friday Specials and More Online
Customers can get a head start on shopping while the turkey is still thawing with a special online-only Black Friday sales event at OfficeMax.com starting at 9 p.m. EST Wednesday, Nov. 27, followed by three days of OfficeMax Black Friday ad deals starting at 12:01 a.m. EST on Thanksgiving.
